2025年4月5日(土)より京都 蔦屋書店にて、品川亮の個展「And Life would all be Spring」を開催いたします。
植物をモチーフとした作品を中心に、9作品を展示いたします。
個展の初日には、16:00-18:30まで在廊の予定です。

絵を描く時、紙をパネルに張り込んだ時点で、そこには空間がもう描かれていて、僕はそこに絵の具を使って演出を加えている、という感覚があります。無限に広がる絵画という箱の中で自分はどんなことができるのか。それは金箔でも紙のままでも同じです。
そして常に、絵の具を置く心地よさ、思索する快楽があります。とても楽しく、うまくいかないこともまたわくわくします。 描きすすめていくと、早く完成が見たいという気持ちと同時に、完成しないでほしい、完成しなければいつまでも頭の中の理想の絵画のままなのに、と思いながら制作しています。 たくさんの人に見ていただけると嬉しいです。

Ryo Shinagawa's solo exhibition "And Life would all be Spring" will be held at Tsutaya Books Kyoto from April 5, 2025.
Nine artworks will be exhibited, mainly featuring plant motifs.
On the first day of the exhibition, he will be in the gallery on April 5, 16:00-18:30.

When I put a paper onto a panel, I feel that a space has already been created on it. Using paints, I simply add my own interpretation to that space. Within the boundless world of a painting, I wonder what I can achieve. Whether I use gold leaf or leave the paper as it is, the feeling remains the same.
There is a constant pleasure in placing paint on the surface, a joy in contemplating each step. It’s incredibly enjoyable, and even when things don’t go as planned, that sense of challenge excites me.
As I continue painting, I find myself eager to see the finished work. Yet at the same time, I sometimes wish it would remain unfinished. As long as it stays incomplete, it exists as the ideal painting in my mind.
I would be happy if many people could see and experience my work.
